Techniques for Reducing Iron (Fe) Content in Groundwater: an Article Review

Iron is a chemical element that found in almost every place on earth, including well water or groundwater. can be suspended with organic substances inorganic solids the form of ferrous cations (Fe2+) and ferries (Fe3+). The presence iron exceeds threshold cause detrimental effects such as corrosion piping, color turns brown, smells bad, health problems. content groundwater reduced so it used fit for consumption use everyday life. This study aims to determine several types techniques reduce through literature studies. Techniques covered include filtration, aeration, adsorption, coagulation, electrocoagulation, cascade aerators. results showed greatest reduction efficiency was combination type adsorption technique filtration by more than 99.1%, then followed electrocoagulation 99.74%.
